Campus Dining & Shops is a multi-unit company employing over 1300 people. In addition to providing the University’s dining services, CDS also serves the UB community through management of the UB Card Office, Campus Catering, Retail and Convenience Stores, and Vending.

Campus Dining & Shops operates one of the largest and most all-inclusive self-operated food service programs in the Northeast. Our dining program provides students, faculty, and staff with an array of dining options, ranging from self- serve buffet style programs in our residential dining centers to retail dining and the finest in catering. With over 35 locations, there is always delicious food nearby at UB. From popular national brands like Tim Hortons, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Jamba Juice, to our very own Hubie’s serving great wings, Campus Dining & Shops has something for everyone.

Position Summary: Campus Dining & Shops has and exciting opportunity for our new Food Truck operations. Incumbent will supervise operational and administrative details of customer and culinary service.

  • Provide insight and suggestions for build-out of food truck. 

  • Manage union staff to assist with food truck daily operations.

  • Train staff in proper kitchen conduct and food handling, overseeing the sanitation and safety of the food truck.

  • Adhere to all city and town regulations with regard to health and safety of food truck operations.

  • Develop and maintain operating procedures for the truck.

  • Implement and manage inventory system for food truck and commissary.

  • Meet and exceed the expectations’ of customer’s perceived value.


  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Passion and knowledge of quality food preparation, presentation and taste. 

  • Experience managing a food truck preferred.

  • Flexible Schedule to include: days, night and weekends.

  • Proven success in a team-oriented environment.

  • Positive interpersonal skills.

  • Impeccable attention to detail, prioritization, multi-tasking, task planning and budget management.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Leadership Skills Required

  • Strong ability to inspire and motivate self and others.

  • Proven ability with team collaboration, creative problem solving and conflict resolution.

    Technical Expertise Required

  • Proficiency in MS Office. 

  • Familiarity with POS software (or similar retail software programs). 

  • Experience in logistical planning and execution of projects, with accountability for developing and working within budgets.

    Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED, some post-high school education/training/certification in business, management or culinary arts preferred.


    Work Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in a restaurant or institutional food service setting.

  • Work experience with unionized and student employees preferred.

  • Work experience in higher education, and/or food truck environment.
